An ordinary enemy wouldn't do that because more habitable worlds means more resources, colonies and ultimately power. The problem with the enemy that wiped out (or drove the remnant into hiding) is that they employed a scorched earth tactic by choosing to make the heleus cluster uninhabitable. What is most likely though is that the remnant are an advanced alien species that chose synthesis, merging natural and synthetic life at some point in the past, spreading throughout the Andromeda galaxy only to ultimately encounter a very dangerous enemy that unleashed a dark energy weapon against them. They are unlikely to be connected to the milky way (even though I'd think it was an amazing plot twist if they made the synthesis ending cannon and the races of the milky way with the help of the reapers grew so advanced so quickly that they spread to other galaxies while the Andromeda Initiative was on its 600+ year journey to a new galaxy.

They are also very, very advanced and came from elsewhere to the heleus cluster. My theory is that the remnant are a race (or group of races) that chose synthesis with machines in the past which is why you need an AI to operate their equipment. Soon as you restart the vault or trigger the remnant bots to attack you they turn red. In the remnant vaults normally theres lots of green and the remnant bots are lit up green when they are not attacking you. This also happens to be exactly what remnant technology shows. Now if you look at the ending to Mass Effect 3 you'll notice that the synthesis ending was green and the destruction ending was red. While the remnant forces we fight in the game are basically just fancy robots they aren't the remnant race, just automated security bots.

#MMASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA REMNANTS HOW TO#
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!įirst off the remnant have been around for a long time as evidenced by the fact they created the angara but their technology requires an artificial intelligence to operate it, that's why the Archon struggled for years to figure out how to use remnant technology and got nowhere. Hey everyone, I'm just finishing up my second playthrough of Mass Effect Andromeda and realized something interesting about the remnant which I've put together as a sort of theory.
